Do you ever wonder where you are headed in life? As a free spirited creative I know I certainly have had those thoughts. Ten years ago when I set off on my artistic adventure I had an entirely different plan of what my life would look like. Yet sometimes our plan is only a fraction of the amazing unforeseen adventures to come. After spending the past decade painting away in my studio and in the surrounding landscape, I thought that I had officially reached my goal. I had accumulated numerous awards, created a sustainable business, and have collaborated on several out of this world opportunities with the licensing of my images. My prints have been sold through Pottery Barn, they are on the set of the hit Netflix series, House of Cards, and one of my images will be on the upcoming set of Stephen Kings film Doctor Sleep.
Yet in November of 2017 I had a creative nudge to expand into a larger audience. I know so many people appreciate the images I produce but, a painting may not fit in their home, is out of budget, or the all too familiar line that all artists hear from so many viewers ...”I would love to buy it, but my walls are full!”
I rolled up my sleeves, dusted off my Fashion Design Degree from F.I.T. and got to work. It all started with an iconic image of two sailboats (The painting Watch Hill Wednesday)….and from that a star was born. One shirt has turned into 5 different design collections (and counting). We now produce hand printed clothing for the entire family…. including the dog!
My story is a true testament of dreams do come true…. even if we never knew they existed before they came into our lives. I can only imagine what incredible chapters are coming down the pipe line in the next few years and will be sharing it here on our new Blog. In this first post I am thrilled to share the journey of my apparel line with you through this video. I have been collaborating with the Film/Media department at the University of Rhode Island over the past 7 months. The students have done an incredible job in producing, directing, and editing. Without further introduction here it is.
